About São Miguel dos Milagres
São Miguel dos Milagres is a small town on Alagoas' Litoral Norte, roughly 100 km north of Maceió, within the Costa dos Corais marine protected area — one of Brazil's largest, expanded again in 2025 to nearly 500,000 hectares. Once a modest fishing village administered by neighboring Porto de Pedras, it became its own município in 1960 and has since grown, deliberately, at a small scale: a string of boutique pousadas rather than resort towers, built around the warm-water natural pools that form offshore at low tide over sandstone and coral reefs. The town anchors the Rota Ecológica, a coastal route linking it with Passo de Camaragibe and Porto de Pedras.
