About Pirenópolis
Pirenópolis is a preserved 18th-century gold-mining town in the highlands of Goiás, roughly two hours by paved road from Brasília — close enough for a corporate offsite extension or weekend incentive add-on, far enough to feel like a different country. Its cobblestone core of adobe houses and colonial churches was listed as national heritage by IPHAN in 1990, and the surrounding Cerrado hides dozens of waterfalls within easy reach of town. For DMCs, it packages well as a one- or two-night program off a Brasília government/MICE itinerary: colonial walking tours, waterfall excursions with varying accessibility levels, horseback riding, and — if timed to the 45-days-after-Easter window — the centuries-old Festa do Divino with its Cavalhadas jousting pageant, one of Brazil's signature folk-heritage events.
