Pedra Azul
All of Brazil, within reach.
Three equal horizontal stripes of blue, white and pink, with the motto "Trabalha e Confia" (Work and Trust) in the centre. The colours evoke the garments of Nossa Senhora da Vitória; designed in 1908 under governor Jerônimo Monteiro and made official in 1947.

About Pedra Azul
Inland from Vitória, the highlands of Espírito Santo rise into a landscape of Atlantic Forest, rocky peaks and small farms settled by European immigrants in the 19th century. Domingos Martins grew from the Colônia de Santa Isabel, founded in 1847 by families from the Hunsrück, and still shows German and Pomeranian heritage in its architecture, food and language. Its Aracê district is home to Pedra Azul State Park, about 1,240 hectares protecting the 1,822 m rock that gives the area its name, whose surface can take on bluish tones; the park has recorded 182 bird species and 126 orchids. Venda Nova do Imigrante, settled by Italians from the province of Treviso from around 1892, pioneered farm-based agrotourism in Brazil from 1987 and is recognised by federal law as the National Capital of Agrotourism. Further north, Santa Teresa, founded by Italian settlers in 1875, is the home town of the naturalist Augusto Ruschi and of the Mello Leitão biology museum, now part of the National Atlantic Forest Institute. For agencies, the region suits short mountain escapes from Vitória, soft-adventure and nature programs, food and farm-visit itineraries, and winter-season departures built around the Domingos Martins festival calendar. It also combines naturally with a coastal stay in Vitória, Vila Velha or Guarapari. Distances are short but the roads are mountainous: Domingos Martins lies about 45 km from Vitória and the Pedra Azul area roughly 90 km along the BR-262, while Santa Teresa is about 78 km from the capital. Accommodation along the Rota do Lagarto is mainly pousadas and small hotels, which suits FIT and small groups better than large coach groups. The natural pools of Pedra Azul can only be visited on guided, pre-booked walks, so park access should be secured in advance.
Aeroporto de Vitória, Eurico de Aguiar Salles
The region's gateway, operated by Zurich Airport Brasil since 2019, with domestic flights by Azul, Gol and LATAM to hubs such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasília.
